How can you build a paper balloon?

Materials

–     16 sheets of silk paper to color, 50 x 70 cms.

–      Metal ruler and scissors.

–     Glue

Comments

•        To get good results, pages should is all the same size and square.

•        You carefully review the figures before and pay attention when cutting and pasting to avoid mistakes.

•         This is a globe of 4 segments. For the ring (which must be square) and the spider, I recommend galvanized wire of 1.2 mm. The bushings, by way of illustration, can be 2 rolls 8 cms. long and 3 cm. diameter, obtained from a roll of about 8 sheets of kitchen paper cut in half and discard few inches.

The balloon must carry some ballast. 

Construction

1. Cut 8 sheets per diagonal. For this design color we cut 4 sheets of color and 4 of another.  

Tip: you cut always all together.

 2. We started to hit. Note: Overlays and hems are 8 or 10 mm.

3. We get 8 triangles like this. They form the pyramid top and bottom. 

4. Now we started to hit sides. 

5. We make 4 rectangles like this.

6. Attach the upper triangle.

7. Attach the lower triangle.

8. This is a piece finished.

9. If we wish, we can cut the surplus, especially at the tips, this will help you stay perfect.

10. Flip one of the slices and top side until the dotted line (8 or 10 mm.) Order to make a hem that the segments.

11. Hemming and paste.

12.Finished hem. 

13. Fold the upper half segment leading edge to the dotted line.

14. This must be set. Repeat steps 10 to 13, with the other two remaining segments.

15. Flip a set of segments and the other little moved over to make a third hem to attach both pairs.  

hen turn back and do the last hem to close the balloon.

16. This cross section clearly shows go together like the segments and hems.

17. Cut the mouth. This cut should be approximately 22 cm. Tip: Choose to mouth the tip which has been more messy
